In the conference of the Erasmus+ project “Strengthening the quality and relevance of the third mission in Georgian universities” (SQUARE) organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia had participated the head of the International Relations Service of the New Higher Education Institute-NEWUNI, Prof. Nana Tsikhistavi.

Organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, a two-day conference was held on March 6-7, 2023, within the framework of the Erasmus+ project “Strengthening the quality and relevance of the third mission in Georgian universities” (SQUARE), which was opened by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science Nunu Mitskevich.

Nunu Mickiewicz addressed the audience with a welcome speech and spoke about the importance of understanding and implementing the concept of the “third mission” in the management culture of the educational institution. According to the deputy minister, cooperation with the labour market, industry and civil society and other interested parties within the framework of the mentioned project will encourage the creation of research and innovation clusters and the development of university-industry cooperation.

At the conference, Georgian universities presented the strategic development vision and plans of the “Third Mission” of universities developed in cooperation with European partners. On the other hand, European colleagues from Belgium, France, Portugal and Finland shared their experience in the direction of strengthening the “third mission” of the university.

It is important that not only universities participating in the project, but also all higher educational institutions operating in Georgia had the opportunity to participate in the conference.
