On 18–19 February 2026, the Institute TECHINFORMI, the coordinating institution of the ERIC-GE project, hosted a two-day consortium meeting in Tbilisi. The event was officially opened by members of the TECHINFORMI Directorate — Prof. Mariam Razmadze and Prof. Nelly Makhvihadze — together with Prof. Karlo Kopaliani, Head of the GTU Administration, and the President of the Supervisory Board. The meeting was attended by the rectors of five Georgian partner universities, as well as representatives of the governing bodies of two European partner institutions.
The event brought together more than 30 participants from Georgia and Europe.
During the two-day working sessions, consortium members, under the leadership of the Institute TECHINFORMI, engaged in detailed discussions of the project’s strategic objectives, implementation framework, and forthcoming activities. Draft versions of the proposed Scientometrics training course were presented and reviewed.
Over the next two years, the ERIC-GE project aims to strengthen research and innovation capacities within Georgian higher education institutions, introduce modern methodologies, promote the use of AI in science management, and integrate these approaches into both educational and research processes.
Within the framework of the project, consortium members — the Institute TECHINFORMI, five Georgian higher education institutions, and two European universities, the University of Palermo and the University of Central Lancashire — will collaborate to develop a comprehensive scientometrics course and to design professional training modules for scientists and academic staff. These course and training modules will be made available to master’s and doctoral students, as well as to university personnel.
The project partner institutions are:
1. University of Central Lancashire (UcLan, Cyprus)
2. University of Palermo (UNIPA, Italy)
3. New Higher Education Institute (Georgia)
4. Central University of Europe (Georgia)
5. Caucasus International University (Georgia)
6. Samtskhe-Javakheti State University (Georgia)
7. University Alterbridge (Georgia)
Under the coordination of TECHINFORMI, the Georgian partner universities will engage in the exchange of European best practices in scientometrics, examine advanced research evaluation tools and methodologies, and incorporate these approaches into their institutional teaching and research processes.
FYI, Institute TECHINFORMI is among the three Georgian institutions selected as project coordinators under the 2025 Erasmus+ CBHE call. Over the next two years, it will lead the project “Strengthening Research and Innovation Capacities in Georgian Higher Education Institutions” (ERIC-GE)
