On January 20, 2021, a webinar was organized by the British Council to promote employment with the help of the British Council’s first online dialogue of 2021 technologies: which technologies to use to improve employment and career advancement services.

The webinar was attended by Nana Tsikhistavi, Associate Professor, and Head of the International Relations Service of the New Higher Education Institute.

Specially invited UK experts shared with the audience the institutional experience and technology models that are widely used in practice. What technology can we use to provide better career services for graduates this year? This session provided us with a variety of ways to use technology to achieve existing models of career assistance and employment, mainly to enhance internships within and outside the training program. The speakers addressed the following issues:

  • Improved understanding of the use of modern technologies in employment delivery, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic;
  • Practical examples of low / non-value systems that can be used to enhance employment;
  • Overview of the basics of career service systems.

The news in this webinar was as follows:

  • Employment models are included in UK university curricula;
  • Employment is based on pre-diagnosis: online testing, video interviews, and virtual assessments;
  • Students’ knowledge of the profession and experience is taken into account when assessing employment;
  • Students are given assignments: to submit a small project, to receive and complete an assignment on the spot, to participate in a competition announced by the employer;
  • In addition to theoretical knowledge, attention is paid to practical skills when assessing students.

In the UK, a great deal of attention is paid to the involvement of students with disabilities in employment projects as well as to improving ecosystems; Offer similar initiatives to the public from universities’ employment and career development centers, to fund these projects.
