Within the framework of the project “Captain: Science is Captain” on November 27-28, 2020 in 6 cities of Georgia (Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi, Telavi, Zugdidi and Akhaltsikhe) with more than 160 cities in 30 European countries to promote science, entertainment, culture, sports and most importantly, cognitive activities are planned.

The EU-funded project includes, among other activities, a science fiction competition “Oh Captain! My Captain our scientific trip here starts”

The aim of the short story competition is to encourage young authors; Promoting their research and development of extrapolation and writing skills; Raising awareness of European and world scientific-technological inventions.

Young people aged 16-22 can participate.

Competition participants are required to create a literary work (short story) on a scientific topic. The story of the work must include any scientific discovery, phenomenon or theory, technological invention or innovation.

An independent jury will review the competition entries and identify the three winners of the competition:

I place – certificate and cash prize for1875 GEL;

II place – certificate and cash prize for1250 GEL;

III place – certificate and cash prize for 1000 GEL.

The winners will be awarded at the European Researchers’ Night opening ceremony on November 27.

Contest entrants must submit entries electronically (with MS word document) to contest@writershouse.ge by October 30, 2020.

*The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia participated in the Marie Skladovska-Curie Competition of the EU Research and Innovation Framework Program “Horizon 2020” in January 2020 and won the grant project “CAPTAIN: Science is the Captain”. The title of the project – “Captain: Science is Captain” – is inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s famous quote “Science is the Captain, and practice the soldiers” (“Science is the Captain, and practice the soldiers”);
